Recessions v.s Depressions and the Business Cycle

First of the meaning of recession and depression are not the same thing. A recession is a significant decline in economic activity spread across the economy lasting more than a few months. Although there no actual definitions a depression is much more sever than a depression. There have been many recessions and depressions that have happened in the United States. The goal for the U.S is to avoid any recessions or depressions that they can and keep this country going strong.

"A recession is when your neighbor loses his job, its a depression when you lose your job". That is a famous quote from president Harry S Truman that basically speaks for itself. Most Recessions are very brief and have been rare in recent decades. Since the world is not perfect there are always going to be times where the economy slows down. These slow times do not always have to be so dramatic it could be as simple as a manufacturer producing to many goods also known as a over supply. Since the mid-1850s the U.S has had 32 total recessions. The longest ones lasting an astounding 16 months.

A depression on the other hand is much more severe than a recession. A depression is when the GDP or the real gross domestic product decreases by 10%. Although recessions can take a toll on the nation, depressions have long lasting effects . Overall depressions are one of the worst things to go through in life. Unemployment rises while wages drop, over production and no demand, basically the Nation has nothing and is quickly slipping away. But somehow the U.S always find a way to push the nation towards regrowth, and eventually pulling ourselves out of such a hole.

Now we move onto the business cycle. The business cycle is the fluctuations in economic activity that an economy experiences over a period of time.  It is defined in terms of expansions and recessions. During expansions the economy is growing, such as employment and sales depending your company. In recessions the economy's is measured in decreasing in many things. To some people the business cycle may be confusing , but it is simple if you sit back and look at the true meaning of it.

Spoil v.s. Merit System

The underground Economy

The Hidden Economy or otherwise known as the Under Ground Economy is a very interesting thing. It is run on cash that can not be traced. Many people are participants in this operation that do not even know it. An act as simple as babysitting is considered to be a part of this economy. Some experts say that the Under Ground economy is not leaving anytime soon(encyclopedia). Some private businesses are always going to engaging in this illegal activity in order to push for a profit. There are many types of markets that branch off from the Under Ground economy. One of the largest branches ventures off into the "illegal" economy. This includes the selling and buying of illegal drugs, goods and services, and also prostitution. There are so many items that are illegally being handled and sold in the United States that the Government simply can not keep up with the laws that are being broke.

Net Neutrality

Net neutrality is the idea that whoever provides your internet access wether it be Verizon, Comcast, or Time Warner should treat your internet traffic or packets of data the same way. In other words you can say that it's trying to create a neutral government. For the consumers this could mean faster download speeds and faster online streaming with big companies like Netflix or Hulu Plus. The Federal Communications Commission controls the neautrality over the internet.
Under there new rules companies are slowly closing in on striking some deals. The whole skiff over the Net neutrality will go into a vote on May 15th for a decision. Some negative effects that the consumers could eventually face is having to pay higher monthly fees. For instance if the companies that offer broadband to Netflix, down the road has premium packages could cost them more then from there they have to charge the consumers more. My opinion is that the Internet should stay the same because this net neutrality is garbage.

Head of State

First off the movie Head of State featuring actor Chris Rock was very comical, but at the same time demonstrated how an actual Presidential Election would be like. Chris Rock otherwise known as Mays Gilliam was selected to run in the Presidential race, after one of the candidates running had died. Through the movie Mays evolves and will become extremely competitive in the race for becoming President.

This movie definitely makes fun of the candidates of a Presidential race. For example going around state to state and telling all different kinds of people that they are this nation's backbone. We all know the candidates go around saying this not because they mean it, but because they want votes from all different kinds of people. Regardless if they are farmers or construction workers it does not matter. Another example of the two parties stereotypes is that the house is divided "equally". When Mays and his opponent have a debate it is clear that the house was divided equally. Whenever Mays would speak half of them would stand up and when his opponent would speak the other half would stand up.

In the beginning of the movie they chose Mays to run for President because one of the candidates had died. Mays Gilliam is extremely excited to run for President and is ready to take on anything or anyone that stands in his way. The council that was running with Gilliam knew that he was not supposed to win,  but didn't want others to know that. Eventually when they told Gilliam he was very upset and dropped in the polls drastically. Gilliam was still determined to win the Presidential election so he was not going to let a rigged election stop him from winning. Gilliam was not only for helping the United States but the entire nation and its people. The only thing that his opponent would say is "God bless America and no place else". Every time he would say that I would get angry because he did not want to help anyone else. At the end of the election and when the polls closed Mays Gilliam was the victor. Gilliam displayed hard work and dedication to become the President of the United States.

Baker alll the way

Charlie Baker is the best decision for Governor in Massachusetts. Baker delivers with many things including Creating Jobs, Balancing Budgets, and Fixing the Government. Baker got many people off welfare and made Massachusetts first in jobs. The one thing that stands out about Baker is that he is more focused on secondary education rather than early education. His plan focuses on reforming the public system, such as a three year degree and co-op programs. His plan also touches on high performing students to earn both a bachelors and masters degree within four years. This would help out the students on making the college expense much less, considering the cost of going to college is rather ridiculous. These are some of the reasons why I want Charlie Baker for the Massachusetts state Governor.

Memes

The third Amendment states that no soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the owner, nor in time of war, but in manner to be prescribed by law. This is basically saying never lat a soldier in your house just to be on the safe side.

The Second Amendment states that you have the right to bear arms. This amendment is controversial considering the fact with the increased gun violence. There should be limits on whgo could own guns and who can not.
