First off the movie Head of State featuring actor Chris Rock was very comical, but at the same time demonstrated how an actual Presidential Election would be like. Chris Rock otherwise known as Mays Gilliam was selected to run in the Presidential race, after one of the candidates running had died. Through the movie Mays evolves and will become extremely competitive in the race for becoming President.
This movie definitely makes fun of the candidates of a Presidential race. For example going around state to state and telling all different kinds of people that they are this nation's backbone. We all know the candidates go around saying this not because they mean it, but because they want votes from all different kinds of people. Regardless if they are farmers or construction workers it does not matter. Another example of the two parties stereotypes is that the house is divided "equally". When Mays and his opponent have a debate it is clear that the house was divided equally. Whenever Mays would speak half of them would stand up and when his opponent would speak the other half would stand up.
In the beginning of the movie they chose Mays to run for President because one of the candidates had died. Mays Gilliam is extremely excited to run for President and is ready to take on anything or anyone that stands in his way. The council that was running with Gilliam knew that he was not supposed to win, but didn't want others to know that. Eventually when they told Gilliam he was very upset and dropped in the polls drastically. Gilliam was still determined to win the Presidential election so he was not going to let a rigged election stop him from winning. Gilliam was not only for helping the United States but the entire nation and its people. The only thing that his opponent would say is "God bless America and no place else". Every time he would say that I would get angry because he did not want to help anyone else. At the end of the election and when the polls closed Mays Gilliam was the victor. Gilliam displayed hard work and dedication to become the President of the United States.
